Common Questions About Mobile Grooming

Do you need to use my electricity or water?

Our vans carry their own clean water which is heated for use and we capture all dirty water in a separate tank. We ask that we have access to an outlet for our 100-ft extension cord for power. However, if this is not an option, we can provide a generator for a small fee.

How long does the process take?

The amount of time spent depends on the size, breed, and temperament of the pet, as well as the regularity of grooming the pet has received. Typically, we allot 1-2 hours per pet. If more time is spent, additional charges may be made.

Do you require vaccinations?

No. This is a one-on-one experience. Your pet will not be in contact with other animals. Because of this, we do not require a copy of vaccinations for the groom. By law, the state will require a copy of vaccinations if the dog bites or attacks the groomer.

Can I be in the salon during the groom?

Due to safety and liability issues, we cannot allow anyone other than the trained stylist and pet in the van during the appointment. We would be happy give you a tour of the van before the appointment begins.

Can I use my own shampoo?

Yes. We use Espree products and offer Hypo-allergenic options. However, if you are more comfortable using your own pet shampoo or vet prescribed shampoo, we would be happy to use your own.

Do you sedate pets?

Under no circumstances would we sedate a pet. If a pet is aggressive, please let us know before the appointment begins. We reserve the right to stop or walk away from an appointment if we do not feel that we can adequately complete the groom. We will still charge for the service fee as well as any grooming that was completed.

Can you make a house-call for nails only?

Yes. Nail maintenance is very important. We recommend trimming the pet’s nails every 6-8 weeks depending on how active the pet is. Please call our office to get an estimate for a nails only visit.

Can I request the same groomer for every visit?

Of course! If you would like to use the same groomer for every visit, we would suggest setting up a standing appointment. This means that you would automatically have an appointment set up with the groomer of your choice (if availability permits) as frequently as you would like.

Do you have a weight limit for dogs?

We do not have a set weight limit for dogs. However, if a very large dog cannot stand or needs to be lifted onto the table or into the tub, we may not be able to complete the groom. Please let us know ahead of time if the pet cannot stand well or needs assistance getting into the mobile salon so that we can best accommodate the pet’s needs.

  1. Why is grooming your pet important?

By keeping up with your pet’s grooming, you are safeguarding the health and happiness of your pet. Falling behind can result in matted fur, bugs, and skin irritations that will result in your pet becoming stressed out and possibly ill. When playing with your pet, pay attention to his fur, teeth, ears and nails to determine if it’s time to make an appointment with a groomer. Grooming helps to maintain your pet's health, allow for early detection of problems, and even improve your pet's mood. Regular grooming can improve you pet’s confidence and demeanor, resulting in a clean, pretty pet that is used to being around strangers.

  2. How often do you recommend grooming for my dog?

The amount of time between grooming appointments depends on the type of breed along with size and lifestyle, but we recommend all dogs be groomed every 4-6 weeks at the minimum.

  3. Will frequent bathing dry out the skin and coat?

We use very mild, hypoallergenic and medicated shampoos and conditioners that are safe to be used once a week. In fact, most veterinarians recommend dogs be washed at least once a week with a medicated shampoo if they have skin or coat problems.

  4. Can I have my pet washed in my own shampoo?

We'll be happy to use any preferred pet-safe or veterinarian prescribed shampoo, as long as it is designed for and safe to use on pets.

  5. Do you need to use my electricity or hose?

We do request an outlet to plug our salon into. We carry a 100 foot extension cord. If you do not have an outlet we offer self contained generator vehicles for a low charge.

  6. How long does the grooming take?

Grooming appointments typically last anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours, based on the size of the pet, coat condition, hair length, etc. (very hairy and/or large dogs understandably take longer).

  7. Can I watch while my dog is being groomed?

Because dogs tend to get very excited when their humans see them, they run the risk of being injured by any sharp objects. Therefore, we ask that you allow us one on one time with your pet to give them the excellent experience they deserve while keeping he or she safe in the process.

  8. Why is mobile grooming more expensive than grooming at a pet or grooming shop?

With mobile grooming, your pet remains one on one with one stylist (versus in a shop where they see a bather, sit in a cage dryer and then get their haircut by a groomer). Normally at shops you drop off in the morning and don’t pick up until the evening so they are crated all day. For anxious pups (or parents) mobile tends to be much more stress free. And of course we come to your home or office so the pup doesn’t have to be gone all day.
